Deep-sea oil and gas cooperation has ushered in new opportunities

The 16th BRICS Leaders' Meeting was held on October 22-24 in Kazan, Russia. At the summit,
China actively promoted and led high-quality BRICS cooperation, announcing the establishment of the BRICS International
Research Center for Deep Ocean Resources and other concrete measures, which have been echoed by other parties and have strongly boosted the quality and upgrade of BRICS cooperation.
As scientific and technological progress accelerates the change of energy demand, deep-sea oil and gas resources are becoming a new growth point of the global ocean economy,
which has attracted the attention of all parties. In recent years, the pace of global marine oil and gas exploration and development has accelerated significantly, especially in the deep sea (including ultra-deep sea),
which has become a strategic succession area for global oil and gas resources. Brazil and Egypt have large reserves and good endowment of deep-sea oil and gas resources, and Chinese enterprises
have unique advantages in terms of capital, market, etc. This complementarity makes the deep-sea oil and gas cooperation among BRICS countries more strategically important in guaranteeing energy security,
